iConfused

I have to admit, I just don't get modern 'fashion.' French designers are really weird people. When I look for clothes, I look for 3 things. First, the clothing must look comfortable to wear. Second, it should not draw attention. Third, it should be affordable. There is no way the clothing from these fashion shows is comfortable. They make the models look ridiculous. And they cost a fortune. I just don't get it.

High fashion is not meant for the middle class.

Truly - who wears this stuff? And the eye accessory thing???

Do upper class people where this stuff in France? I guess my question is, do these things actually get worn by anyone after the fashion show?

Couture is art. It's using the medium of clothing to make statements about...whatever. Kind of like painters or sculpters or classical musicians.

Wearability is secondary. The price is just as ridiculus as the price of a single painting in an art gallary.

Yes- there are people who wear a lot of the pieces- it's the same idea as buying a picasso to put in your house. It's also common for a designer to create a "toned down" version for people to buy and wear, and that piece takes the comfort a little more into account.
