We're down to the final 12 in our OT Idol competition. It's a good assortment. We have characters from the Pentateuch, the History, the Wisdom books & the Prophets. We have guys (9) and gals (3). We have Jews & Gentiles. The competition changes now in that we start voting FOR the people we want to win. But there are still categories. This week: In light of summer camps, vote FOR the character who would make the best camp speaker and vote FOR the character with the best one-verse line in Scripture (please refer to the specific line).
Abraham
Daniel
David
Deborah
Elisha
Gomer
Isaiah
Joseph
Joshua
Noah
Ruth
Samuel
The other winner of this competition (besides the winning OT character) will be the person who has voted FOR the winning OT character the most often UNLESS the winning OT character is my pre-competition plant character (in which case I and that character are the winners).

Best Camp Speaker: Daniel (I think he'd be good at telling wild stories and engaging the audience)
Best verse: Obviously Ruth ("Spread the corner of your covering over me, for you are my family redeemer." -Ruth 3:9) It's the middle of the night and the poor man is startled awake to find a woman asking to be his wife...this verse always makes me laugh.
sheesh, Matthew. I actually had to open my Bible for this one.
best camp speaker I am going to go with joshua.
Best verse: Deborah Judges 4:9 "Of course I'll go with you. bur understand that with an attitude like that there'll be no glory in it for you. God will use a women's hand to take care of Sisera."
So far...
1 Daniel
1 Ruth
1 Joshua
1 Deborah
tmnk :)
this is pitiful. where are all the voters?! the competition is just getting started.
I don't know! Perhaps my competition is too long. Or maybe this is a bad week. Or maybe it's b/c people have to open their Bible's for this one, haha.
In any case, I'll leave it at the top for another day to get a few more votes. And I'm sure the vote #'s will pick up later on in the competition.
Camp Speaker: Gomer, She has that proverbial testimony of how God saved her from her old life (gag, ha ha).
Best Verse: (for lack of wanting to haul out my Bible and scour) Ruth 1:16-17 "I will go where you go...I will die where you die". Awesome dedication and overall sweet story, if not super funny, too. I agree, Jess's verse is a good one, too.
So far...
2 Ruth
1 Joshua
1 Daniel
1 Deborah
1 Gomer
I'm gonna chime in with:
Speaker: David - cause he was a rock star and kids dig that.
Line: Isaiah - "here am I, send me" that's the heart of a solid relationship with God.
1. CAMP SPEAKER
I think Joseph would be the most interesting camp speaker. He'd have lots of interesting stories to tell and dealt with family issues, politics, different cultures, life & death situations, dreams, etc.
2. BEST LINE
I like Samuel's line to David: "YOU are the man" when he confronted David over his adultery.
So far...
2 Ruth
1 David
1 Joshua
1 Daniel
1 Deborah
1 Gomer
1 Isaiah
1 Joseph
1 Samuel
So far the following have no votes
Abraham
Elisha
Noah
NExt one of these to receive a vote stays alive. The other 2 are out.
Well, I know the time is pretty up, but I'm gonna give a quick vote for Noah, just to save him. If he can survive a flood that killed the whole rest of the world, he should be able to survive this.
I appreciate the attempt, but I will not allow a 3rd vote from you.
Of course, you are perfectly free to get your husband to vote. but I will only accept it if it's his username :)
Noah.
(Does it count if she is holding a gun to my head... seriously someone help!)
Sure, in fact, it's preferable!
Abraham and Elisha are eliminated!
lol
