I Got Fired

For the first time in a couple of years, I made a mistake. You see, I have been getting my nephew (who lives next to the church) off the bus each Monday & Tuesday. Monday was a close call. I was running behind and got caught at a train crossing. I reached the church just as the bus was about to give up on me. Disaster averted. Tuesday I was at the church, working, when I suddenly realized what time it was. I looked out the window to see the bus already almost out of site. Well this triggered a network of phone calls that ended up in me being fired from bus duty.

I am actually quite disappointed in this for a few reasons. First, I enjoyed spending this 30 minutes twice a week with my nephew 1 on 1. Second, it stinks that my memory is so bad. Third, every time I hear the bus go by the church I'm going to feel like a crappy uncle and brother.

to the alphabetical links. I like the new posts at the top. People might say they can't find their friends that way but why the heck would you want to go to their blog if there isn't a new post anyway? Plus if there are people that near and dear to you just add them to your favorites.

PS Sorry you got fired.

Well, perhaps this will give you a reason to go out of your way each week to spend time with your nephew. I do understand though. Sorry for your loss.

I'm with AJ, I don't like the alphabetical links either. It is much easier to just look at the top of the list instead of scrolling down to see who has posted. I don't understand people complaining about the new posts at the top...I just don't get it.

You are a crappy uncle, that poor kid...

As another person with a bad memory I can relate. My brain never stops running which means the priority things sometimes don't make it to the surface in time. Some people can't understand that bu ti wouldn't trade it for anything. Once you harness the constant brain running thing you can never lose at games like Encore and Scattagories. Also ideas always come instantaneously because your brain has been working on things even before you realize it was. So it may mean you forget something like a nephew, a funeral, or your own wedding but in the end it is so worth it.

Oh I'm very sorry Matthew. I hope that there will be another time when you can spend quality time with your nephew. I'm sure that he will miss you too.
