***'s

Alright, enough people have been IM'ing me about the ***'s that I suppose I will make a blanket reply, against my wishes. As per request, I have changed the blogroller setting from "alphabetical" to "most recently updated." Frankly, I've always preferred this system since I'm extremely lazy and it eliminates scrolling down. Furthermore, I feel it heaps burning coals on sloggers.

The downside, of course, is that it's harder to find a name of a person who hasn't updated lately (but why would you want to?). Also, some people still aren't recognized by blogroller or haven't changed their settings, so they'll be trapped at the bottom. (by the way, if you hold your mouse over a name, it should tell you when they last updated. Everyone got ***'s on January 20th, so only people who updated since then are above "Aaron H" on the list).

Feel free to applaud or argue about the new system and I will take your comments under consideration.

Well, I didn't think I was entitled to an opinion since it's not my blog, but since you asked...

I am a fan of order, and prefer the alphabetical kind. Since the ***s are a very different color from the names, I did not find it hard at all to see who had recently updated and who had not. I do find it less helpful and a little more chaotic looking this way. So my vote would be (a la Gilmore):

+ changing it back to alphabetical
- keeping it the way it is

I am not at all good with computer stuff, and can't figure out how to add links to my friend's blogs on my sight. So I must always go to your blog (the hub of all things Bethany) and click on my friends' links. Your new system makes it much harder for me.

So now that you've opened the can, that's what you get.

That's cool.

Perhaps a compromise is in order. I'll keep it alphabetical for the most part, but for the day surrounding the poster awards, I'll change it to 'recent' so as to highlight those who have posted in the past days.

Sound fair?

Yes, perhaps a compromise is in order and could be tolerated.

Well Matt since you are so willing to pander to your public in changing your blog I would like to make some changes as well.

1. More stories about me. Let's face it all the rest of the links on this site go to less than enjoyable destinations compared to my blog.

2. Instead of Blog of the month I think you should change it to Kirk's best post of the month.

3. Delete all the other links except for the link to my blog. This is the most efficient use of your linking system as that is what people are looking for anyways.

4. Pleas change the name of your blog to Kirk's Blog 2

5. More stories about why Hab fans should be executed by rabid animals.

OR

You could just do whatever you want on this blog since it is yours and to the ones who don't like it you could say 'Bite Me" and "Have you checked out Kirk's Blog lately?"

kirk, my blog exists for the people. that is why i feel no guilt for taking $5 from their checking account each month via direct deposit.

Kirk made me laugh. Good thing he is not a narcissist.

I have mixed feelings. It definitely makes it hard to find a BBC'r in this un-alphabetical list. But, it is YOUR blog and each of us could make our own list of BBCr's on our blogs to solve the problem.

yeah, my final decision is that i will keep it alphabetical EXCEPT for the 48 hours of transition from one month to the other

Phew - that means I am out of my binding contract to blog everyday for a month..

Just so you know, I wasn't trying to cheat you the last 3 days... I haven't been home (we're candidating this weekend) and access has been somewhat limited (we haven't been at the hotel much).
