Sabres Injuries :(

The Sabres are in 1st place in the entire NHL, but it really is unbelievable how many injuries they have. Keep in mind that they have been missing one of their top players, Tim Connolly, all season so far. Now they are losing players to long term injuries every single game

Feb. 07th Paul Gaustad (severed tendon)
Feb. 10th Jaro Spacek (broken hand)
Feb. 15th Max Afinogenov (broken wrist)
Feb. 15th Jiri Novotny (high ankle sprain)
Feb. 17th Al Kotalik (right knee injury)
Feb. 20th Dan Paille (broken finger)
Feb. 22nd Chris Drury (head injury)

Or, to see how valuable these injured players are, I'll put their names in red:

Good luck to Nathan Paetsch, Drew Stafford, Clark MacArthur, Mike Ryan, Patrick Kaleta, and whoever will replace Drury until these guys can get back into the lineup!

It is unfortunate that the Sabres have all of these injuries. 2 years in a row! I think they will remain strong for the rest of the season. Ryan Miller has nerves of steel. Inaddition, how about that Baby Joe!!

You know my feelings about this. The Sabres are a bunch of wimps that don't take care of their bodies. On the other hand I don't mind seeing them at the top of the NHL. If they still had Ted Nolan I'd say they were going all the way.

If it were Briere, Roy, and the like getting injured I'd buy the theory that the Sabres are soft. But you guys are obviously wrong b/c the guys getting injured are tough players. Paul Gaustad. Al Kotalik. Chris Drury. These are some tough cookies.

And as for Ted Nolan, he's a good regular season coach b/c he can get his team to play passionate, but he's not enough of a hockey guy to win in the playoffs where strategy is more at work.

Perhaps at some future conference or something the 3 of us can have a breakout session and I'll teach you a few things about hockey.

PS...Scott, yeah, I watched the Baby Joe fight during the Sabres intermission. Pretty quick. Hopefully he can start fighting quality oppenents again soon!

i don't necessarily see a connection between being soft or weak and not taking care of their bodies. some injuries are flukes, but having consistent plagues of injuries leads me to think that trainers might be part of the prob. that's what i in mind with "not taking care of their bodies.'

yeah, i was really just trying to trash talk :)

But I really don't think it's a case of not being able to take care of their bodies. My guess is the 1st 2 or 3 injuries just randomly happened in a span of a couple games and then the other players started to play nervous as the injury bug built steam

Nevertheless, must be pretty disappointing for the Sens to lose to a group of AHL's players

I'll tell ya all these injured players makes me nervous of a repeat of last year. And like my brother said how bout baby joe. He really put a pounding on what i thought would be a tough opponent

hmmmmmm a repeat of last year. Yeah I think I could handle that. Go Canes and might I say I love Anson Carter and he is now a Cane. I love it when that happens.
