Scientology

Scientology is getting a lot of press these days via Tom Cruise and other Hollywood celebrities. It was invented by L. Ron Hubbard. He was a science fiction writer who one day declared, "Writing for a penny a word is ridiculous. If a man really wanted to make a million dollars, the best way would be to start a religion." One year after making that statement, he took his own advice with the publishing of 'Dianetics: A modern Science of Mental Health' and other religious books conveying his ideas on inner peace and physical health. He died of a stroke in 1986.
