The Origin of Sin

One issue which has always bothered me is...why did Satan fall? If the traditional view that Satan was created as a beautiful, intelligent, good angel is correct...then why would he make such an ugly, stupid, evil decision?

Mankind fell because of the combination of free will and a tempter. But Satan didn't have a tempter, did he? We are fallen today b/c we now have a sinful nature. But Satan didn't have a sinful nature, right? What drew him to the edge? What pushed him over?

There may be good answers to those questions, but this is part of the reason I find the second theory of Satan's origin (that he was created AS an accusing angel/being) to have interesting explanatory power. Any thoughts?

Nice tri columns. Its pretty cool. I guess I am going to have to say NO to leading worship in June. Everything is so up in the air! Its rather annoying to me, but that is the way it is. I hope you can find someone!

Satan may not have had a tempter but he still had a free will, and with a free will always comes the possibility of sin.

PS - What are you looking for a worship leader for?

Ok Heather...thanks for considering it though :)

Robin...yeah, it definitely would have been a free will thing, but why make that free will choice? Without a tempter, how long do you think Adam & Eve would have gone before making the choice of rebellion?

Our pastor is taking a vacation in June and he usually leads worship. Some of our other musicions will be gone too. So June 12th I need to find someone to lead worship at our church.

I asked a smart radio show guy if he thinks Adam & Eve would have sinned w/o a tempter. He guessed no.
