* My 2nd Semester @ Houghton started yesterday. I'll be taking 2 classes. The first is hermeneutics. The second is contemporary theology. The work-load seems like it might be a bit lighter this semester, although the final projects are larger in nature.
* I will probably be getting my ring tattoo within the next 2 weeks
* Katie & I finally have usable TV. We bought a 37 inch Vizio

Ring tattoo, ooh. So what did you use at the ceremony?
I am currently wearing a wal-mart band. I am having a hard time not taking the ring off w/o being aware that I am doing so
Uh oh, is that something Freudian?
:)
We'll see if I try to take the tattoo off
you get used to a ring.
what books are you using for your courses??
I had the tattoo idea from the beginning. The ring was always a temporary fix to compensate for the fact that I had no intention of having a tattoo put on during the service!
My books are as follows...
Biblical Interpretation (blomberg)
Reading the Bible in Wesleyan Ways
The Bible in Modern Culture
Dogmatics in Outline (Barth)
Introduction to Contemporary Theologies
Holocaust Theology: A reader
this, by the way, is much improved to last semester's 14 text books
Reading the Bible in Wesleyan Ways, I'm guessing, has chapters by Joel Green and Rob Wall? :)
I've interacted quite a bit with Joel Green (had him for a few courses at Asbury) on his idea of reading. He's big into theological hermeneutics. You should enjoy that book.
I think I blogged something on Dogmatics in Outline. What stands most out to me from that book was not what Barth said, but when he said it--in the heydey of liberal Christianity. Pretty amazing stand
Hey Matt -- Can you update my links? I'm ditching outlookonjapan.com, and doing most of my blogging at robinwhiteonline.com now. But I am keeping JapanLog as well for ministry updates and stuff.
PS - Sorry for the confusion. I promise not to move my blog again for a long time.
