The storyline of Richard & Emily ignoring Lorelei's news seemed really familiar. Hasn't this happened before?
Too much Lorelei & Rory alone in dialogue can be a bit much (or is it not enough?)
Paris has her role down extremely well. I always like when she's in it.
I liked how this episode had a little bit of almost everybody. Kirk & Taylor were missing though. Also, I miss Jackson a little bit.
I wasn't sure where they were going with this episode, or if ANYTHING was going to happen with this episode until the last 5 minutes.
Obviously, I dislike the direction of the show. Rory/Logan ended on a good note and Lorelei called Chris :( And the previews for next week assured the annoying reality that they're getting back together. I dislike this storyline greatly.
[sigh]. I can't talk about this. I can see that the quality of this show is sinking down into the debts of the ocean. the question is, do I want to go down with this amoral-making-trite-of-relations ship?
I might have to jump. Or walk the plank...
Matt, Richard and Emily never affirm Lorelei's emotions. Indeed they ignore her existence. She merely serves as a functionary to them in their social latter climbing. They never "see" her.
Agreed: Paris was in fine form tonight.
Zach and Lane---filler. I wish the men in this show had more backbone/spine. They rarely confront or give opinions (except Richard and Taylor at times). Have you noticed?
That being said, I never miss Taylor. I would have liked Kirk and Luke to have more airtime. Did you notice that Luke shaved? (They both attempted a different 'hair' do after the break up). Did you notice that we often find out about Luke's character in the way that he responds to people rather than by his ever saying anything directly? He is the invisible man. That's why it is good that Kirk is around <--he is the channel through which we come to know who Luke is, otherwise we just have him catering to Lorelei, and do not really "see" him. Well, and April. April is important for that purpose, too.
Logan---needs to get out of town. Oh wait, he is already. He's so plastic and political. What a schmoozer.
Liked the larger vocabulary usage. Liked the little girl scene. Liked the long dialogues between mother and daughter. I miss April. Liked that Chris took Rory out to eat. Liked that Paris was attentive to Rory. Liked Sookie doing her thing. Michele--also in fine form.
Yes, the men in the show are not dominant characters. The most dominant acting of all of them is Taylor and he's considered the joke of the town in many ways.
You are right that we never learn about Luke except in his reaction to others. And good observation about the dual haircuts. On another note, i just recently realized that luke was in an episode of Seinfeld. I never made the connection.
In future weeks I am going to start a "gilmore girls Survivor" game where we vote 1 character off the show each week until there is only 1 character left. This will coincide with the last episode of the season (series?).
I hardly know what to say. I have such mixed feelings about Lorelai's relationships right now. As I said before, I've always had a soft spot for Chris. If it weren't for Luke, I'd be jumping for joy that they were getting back together. But I love Luke, and I love Luke for Lorelai.
I don't know if I like the direction that Rory's relationship with Logan is going. Frankly I think he's a bad influence on her, nothing less.
I think I like that Lorelai is taking time to look at her roots. I don't think everything she turned her back on is as bad as she thinks it is.
Yay for more Paris, but please we want to see more of her, and more than just her yelling at people. There is more to her than that!
My overall feeling is disappointment in the new writing. It is such a let down from the standard that has been established in earlier seasons.

But the episode was pretty good
Tammy, it's been down for less than an hour I think, so I wouldn't worry too much yet

I suppose I should say something positive:
Liked the larger vocabulary usage. Liked the little girl scene. Liked the long dialogues between mother and daughter. I miss April. Liked that Chris took Rory out to eat. Liked that Paris was attentive to Rory. Liked Sookie doing her thing. Michele--also in fine form.
