1 & 2 Clement

Below are some of the most interesting quotes I found in the early church writings known as 1st & 2nd Clement:
You stretched out your hands to almighty God, imploring Him to be merciful, if inadvertently you had committed any sin Let them demonstrate by their silence the moderation of their tongue The great cannot exist without the small, nor the small without the great. There is a certain blending in everything, and therein lies the advantage We have been considered worthy of greater knowledge, so much the more are we exposed to danger Be contentious and zealous, brothers, but about the things that relate to salvation Many women, being strengthened by the grace of God, have performed many manly deeds We ought to think of Jesus Christ, as we do of God We may be saved by the Lord while we still have time for repentance. For after we have departed from the world, we are no longer able there either to confess or to repent anymore Let none of you say that this flesh is not judged and does not rise again This is the reason why a man is unable to find peace: they instill human apprehensions, preferring the pleasure of the present to the promise of the future We are full of much stupidity and wickedness Flesh is a copy of the Spirit. No one, therefore, who corrupts the copy will share in the original
